How can we help?

At St. Michael’s our goal is to support all students so that they can achieve their goals, feel happy and safe in school, and be the best learners that they can be. We offer the following supports:

Individual Counselling

In a confidential setting, students receive support in understanding their feelings, attitudes, and behaviors, whether their concerns be academic, social or emotional.

Group Counselling

We lead group counselling activities that bring together students experiencing commonly shared concerns in areas such as relationships, self-esteem, or organizational skills.

Classroom Guidance

Through planned classroom and large group learning experiences, we lead activities targeting the personal, social, academic, and career development of all students.

College Counselling

All Grade 11 students are involved in a comprehensive college guidance program offering individual counselling opportunities and group information sessions. With the assistance of the Guidance Counsellor, graduating students can take the time to explore and apply for postsecondary education during application periods.

Coordination

Counsellors also coordinate various services and activities in the school. Examples of these activities at St. Michael’s can include our annual Mental Health Awareness Summit and post-secondary information sessions.

Consultation

We are always happy to speak to and support parents. This may include assisting parents in obtaining needed services for their children and helping them access community service. We believe that good school – home relationships are key to student success.
